Some of us know the tragic Gallipoli campaign to be the attempt of capturing the Turkish capital Constantinople during the First World War.

Others remember it as another great loss of Humanity...

Under command by Mustafa Kemal the Ottoman army proved to be powerful in defending their home against Britain, Australia, New Zealand, India, France and her African colonies.

Thus national identity was born for the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps... ANZAC Day.

For Turkey it was to be known as the Turkish War of Independence.
