Friendship for Life is a not for profit organisation aimed at promoting a ceremonial event on the Saturday prior to Anzac Day.
It was first introduced in 2005 at the Port Kembla Returned Soldiers’ Club and continues to grow within the community.
The foundation of Friendship for Life comes from a Pledge of Friendship by Ataturk (First President and founder of the Turkish Republic) to the Anzacs in 1934. This association is proud to be presenting a ceremony which honours that pledge, commemorating all soldiers who fell during Gallipoli and through this mateship, we endeavours to promote the ‘Vision of Friendship for all Humanity.’
Through Friendship for Life we are able to cement the bond between these
nations and promote the principles of tolerance and respect within our
diverse nation. This comprehension and practice of peace, respect and
honour within our country will encourage people from around the world to
acknowledge the ideals of understanding and acceptance in relation to
individuals; regardless of their ethnicity or ideology.
The mission of Friendship for Life Incorporated is to assist in the understanding and tolerance of cultural differences whilst preserving Australian history through the ceremony.
There are no borders here... There is only Friendship for Life. |
